Earbuds Guide

Best Bluetooth Earbuds for Watching TV

The biggest risk when using Bluetooth earbuds with a TV is lip-sync lag: standard Bluetooth audio can trail the picture by 100–200ms, which is noticeable on dialogue. A low-latency codec on both the earbuds and the TV (or a Bluetooth transmitter) reduces or removes this delay.

Latency is a codec problem, not a volume problem

Regular SBC/AAC Bluetooth can introduce a noticeable audio delay. Look for aptX Low Latency or a similar low-latency codec on the earbuds, and confirm your TV or set-top box supports it too.

Most TVs need a transmitter or adapter

Many televisions do not support Bluetooth audio output natively. Check your TV’s settings or use a small Bluetooth transmitter plugged into its audio-out or optical port.

Battery life matters for long viewing sessions

A movie or several TV episodes can outlast a short battery rating — check the per-earbud figure below alongside latency support.
